In addition to recent reports suggesting former WWE champion Asuka returns to in-ring action at the Royal Rumble this weekend, fightfulselect.com reports that her former teammate Kairi Sane’s name is also being discussed behind the scenes as a potential surprising participant in the women’s competition.
Sane left WWE and the United States in mid-2020 and chose to return to Japan where she remained under WWE contract and served as ambassador. There have been reports that her contract with WWE has ended or will end soon, but that would certainly not stop her from taking part in a one-off PPV match. As always, any potential plans for Sane are not confirmed and even if it is in pencil, it could change before Saturday’s performance.
