If you support an environment where Cisco Jabber is used, one feature that can be very useful is the built-in screen sharing feature. If you find that Cisco Jabber screen share does not work with the following error message – “Could not join part – could not connect to remote host ”, I would like to share the solution with you.
Solution to Jabber Screen Sharing Problem
To solve this problem there are two requirements. First, and most importantly, make sure that BFCP is enabled on the SIP profile used on the phone profile or CSF profile. Second, the appropriate firewall ports must be opened to enable desktop sharing.
The first thing you need to check is the SIP profile for that device profile or CSFProfile that is in use. SIP profile for if it is a truck, and check Enterprise to make sure BFCP is enabled.
On the CUCM Admin page –
Enable desktop sharing on the SIP profile for the appropriate CSF devices. To do it
– Choose Device >Device settings >SIP profile
– Select the appropriate SIP profile
– In the Tribe-specific configuration section, select Allow listing sharing using BFCP
– Choose Save
2. Apply the SIP profile to the appropriate CSF devices as follows:
– Choose Device > Phone on an individual device.
– Use the bulk administration tool for multiple devices.
What is BFCP?
Binary Floor Control Protocol (BFCP) provides capabilities for sharing video desktops for software mobile devices, also known as CSF devices. Cisco Unified Communications Manager handles the BFCP packets that users transmit when they use video desktop sharing capabilities. On Cisco Unified Communications Manager version 9.0 (1) and later, BFCP presentation sharing is enabled automatically. For this reason, you do not need to perform any steps to enable video screen sharing on CSF devices.
Allow Firewall ports.
If the first step in this solution does not resolve the issue, you may need to check the firewall setup and make sure that the correct ports are open.
The following ports must be allowed for Voice or Video Media Exchange
|16384 to 32766||RTP / SRTP||UDP||Cisco Unified Communications Manager media port series used for audio, video, and BFCP video computing.|
|33434 to 33598||RTP / SRTP||UDP||Cisco Hybrid Services (Jabber to Jabber call) media port used for audio and video.|
|49152 to 65535||HOP||TCP||IM computer part only. Applies to Cisco Jabber for Windows only.|
|8000||RTP / SRTP||TCP||Used by Jabber Desk Phone Video Interface, it allows users to receive video transferred to their desktops on their computers by the client.|
