Dana White tells ‘idiots’ why he did not put the belt on Francis Ngannou

UFC President Dana White was in the news after heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou’s first title defense at UFC 270 over Ciryl Gane.

After surprising fans by using his wrestling and making the first defense of his heavyweight championship successful, Francis Ngannou‘s credit was short-lived, as the battle’s aftermath caught everyone’s attention.

When Ngannou was the winner named after five hard roundss, White was nowhere to be seen for his duties to fasten the belt around Cameroon’s waist. A job known to be done by the boss himself was performed by UFC matchmaker Mick Maynard.

Wishing he did not put the belt on the champion, White was not present at the press conference after the fight to answer questions from the media.

Dana White fired back at those who accused him of despising Francis Ngannou

After getting some heat on social media, White responded to the accusations during a fan Q&A session on EPSN +.

“I was not there for the main event. “I actually walked out of the arena just after the co-main event because things were going well behind the scenes that I was dealing with,” White explained.

“For anyone to think that I show any kind of disrespect towards Francis, I saw Francis all week, you idiots. I shook his hand, I said hello to him, I was out there for the star downs, the whole thing. ”

Ngannou’s alleged insult came after the UFC allegedly sent an email to the champion camp, insinuating that the company is out to sue Marquel Martin, Ngannou’s agent, after communicating with Jake Paul’s team.

Despite the tough situation and certainty of Ngannou’s future in the UFC, White did have a few concluding words to the champion after watching Ngannou take a different path to a victory at UFC 270.
