Dark Side Of The Ring has become a staple in wrestling circles in recent years, performing deep dives on some of the industry’s darker yet fascinating eras and moments. When we will see more from the show’s creators remains unknown. However, some fans might have been led to believe they were getting a very early tease for season four while watching Dynamite this week.
MJF’s Dark Side Of The Ring
The name of the show flashed up in the same way that it would during an episode of Dark Side of the Ring. Chris Jericho, who narrates the show, then started to speak about what looked very similar to the recreated footage the docuseries uses. A few seconds into the segment, it became clear that this was MJF‘s latest way of poking fun at his bodyguard-turned-nemesis, Wardlow.
After Jericho realizes who the voiceover is for mid-narration, but is then told how much MJF is willing to pay, he tells the tale of Wardlow costing MJF his dog collar match against CM Punk. Wardlow is painted to be the villain, of course, and framed as the subject of this special edition of Dark Side of the Ring. A contract signing between MJF and Wardlow took place after the video aired, making their match at Double or Nothing official.
A Faux First Look At Season Four
As highlighted above, a lot of the elements used in MJF’s Dark Side of the Ring mock-up were pulled directly from the show. While it’s unclear whether the docuseries’ creators were consulted on that, they obviously do not mind. The video has been shared on Dark Side’s Twitter account along with the caption, “the first look at season 4 is finally here.”
There have been mixed messages regarding season four of Dark Side of the Ring. There were reports Vice had not yet renewed the show for a fourth season despite its popularity. However, Vice has since shot down those reports, claiming it is still very much invested in the show. Dark Side’s creators are apparently helping WWE put together a show about the territory era which might be why there has been no concrete news regarding a new season just yet.
