I sat down this morning to write a motivational email to our members and I must say I really struggled.
With lockdown continuing and no end date in sight, it definitely started to hit me.
How can my team motivate my boxing family if I can not motivate myself, I thought?
I knew what I had to do, I had to do a workout to sort my head out.
I really did not want to this morning, it was cold and I felt tired.
But one thing I do know for sure is that it works.
So I started swinging a kettlebell in my backyard and put together a circuit. After the first round, my energy started to lift. That dark cloud sitting over my head seemed to just get lighter.
And then the message became clear.
Exercise is really medicine. I’ve been talking for years about how it literally changes your brain set.
We need this medicine now more than ever to stay alive.
If you feel frustrated, sad, angry, overwhelmed – do a workout. This will calm your brain and help you find focus.
And if that’s all you’re doing today, that’s right. it’s so hard to plan anything at the moment, so just stay in the present moment and take things day by day.
It’s now Feb which means winter is on its way and spring is coming 🙂 it’s getting a little lighter in the mornings and at night so slightly more encouraging to get outside for walks and workouts.
