Former head coach Britt Reid accused him of the DWI crime
Britt Reid, former head coach of Reeseen and son of coach Andy Reid, has been charged with the DWI offense after the Feb. 4 accident.
A Jackson County, Mo., prosecutor says Reid “used a motor vehicle that was exposed to alcohol and acted recklessly by driving at excessive speed,” according to ESPN.
If convicted, Reid could face up to seven years in prison.
On Feb. 4, Reid hit a stationary vehicle on the side of the road near the chiefs’ facility. The car accident left 5-year-old Ariel Young in a coma and injured another child. Young was to wake up later, but a family lawyer says he will live with a permanent brain injury.
Reid admitted to drinking on the spot in compliance with the law, but no charges were filed at the time of the incident.
Reid’s contract, which expired after Super Bowl 55, would not be renewed.
