Jiri Prochazka plans to train with Jon Jones, Henry Cejudo for Glover Teixeira fight at UFC 274

Jiri Prochazka relies on former UFC champions to prepare him for a light heavyweight title fight against Glover Teixeira in May. Prochazka, who captured the imagination of fans with his action-movie style, achieved top contender status after just two fights within the Octagon.

Prochazka, the first Rizin light heavyweight champion, was in contact with former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and former two-division title holder Henry Cejudo. Cejudo also works as a coach with Deiveson Figueiredo, who has just won the flyweight title in his trilogy match with Brandon Moreno at UFC 270 and Zhang Weili.

“In February I think about it and work on preparation in America. Especially with Henry Cejudo and Jon Jones there. I want to go there and work on my wrestling. I especially want to take my wrestling to the next level. I’m really looking forward to it, “I’m a big fan of Figueiredo,” Prochazka told CBS Sports. His style is amazing. It’s an honor to go there to practice with these guys. ”

Teixeira hopes to recruit a champion of his own: former Strikeforce champion and Rizin Heavyweight Grand Prix winner “King Mo” Muhammad Lawal. “King Mo” outscored Prochazka in 2015; however, he lost their 2019 rematch via TKO.

“I fought ‘King Mo’ twice. The second time, when I defeated him in the Rizin title fight, I was a different guy than the first time he won,” Prochazka said. “From that Rizin title fight until now, I am five levels higher. He can talk [Teixeira] and give him special tips for me, but I think I’m a different person. I’m a different person of character. I have completely changed myself since that time. It does not matter. If ‘King Mo’ will help him be a better fighter, I’ll be happy about it. I want to fight against the best version of Glover’s style. ”

Prochazka (28-3-1) also expressed his dislike of co-contender Aleksandar Rakic. Rakic accused Prochazka of evading a fight between them, but Prochazka argues the opposite. According to Prochazka, Rakic turned down a fight when the latter was at the top of the rankings. When Prochazka jumped to the front of the contenders’ ladder, Rakic allegedly came calling for a scrap.

“We talked about a fight with Rakic, but it was before the fight with [Dominick] Reyes. We challenged him, “Prochazka said.” He said, ‘Sorry, I do not want to go with you. I’m looking for the title. ‘ After I jumped in front of him [in the rankings], he turned around and started challenging me. He started with these bulls — screaming. I’m not interested in that.

“Especially for that, because I can not speak normally. Like a normal man. Like a fighter. Especially in this game, I prefer to talk to other guys, to my colleagues, with some honor. To be on ‘ a personal level to speak. Not to talk nonsense.I hate it because it only shows his weakness. The big challenge for me now is a title. After that I will be happy to fight with him.But it does not lie ahead of me now not.”

UFC 274 takes place on May 7th. A venue was not finalized for the event.
