California is ready for a party
The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum has been a household name in sports for almost 100 years, after being home to two Olympic Games, two NFL Super Bowls, the 1959 World Series and various collegiate and professional teams such as the USC Trojane, UCLA Bruinsthe Los Angeles Ramsthe Raiders and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
It also hosted many memorable and historic events marking the first papal mass ever by John Paul II in 1987, Nelson Mandela’s return to the United States and sold out concerts by big names such as the Rolling rock and Metallica.
Its size and location, combined with its history, made it iconic, and even earned a state and federal historic landmark title in 1984.
Now, NASCAR will undertake his first trip to this popular venue to bring the fun and excitement of motor racing to Angelenos and fans. The Colosseum has been transformed from its typical gold and USC cardinal-painted soccer field to a quarter-mile short course where drivers will debut the new Next Gen cars.
