Agathe Laisne of France rounded out a highlight in 2021 by finishing third at LET Q-School just a week after achieving her status on the LPGA Tour.
The 22-year-old, who had a very successful amateur career, became a professional in October 2021, making it her goal to try to play on both sides of the Atlantic.
Laisne finished the final stage of the LPGA Q Series tied for 22second with status for the following year and then flew to La Manga Club to try and repeat the performance for the LET.
Rounds of 70 (-1), 74 (+1), 68 (-3), 70 (-3) and 72 (-1) ensured that the French woman finished in third place on seven under track mark and playing rights on the LATE in 2022.
Laisne spoke at the time and said: “I’m very happy. It feels like a Christmas present! I’m very proud of myself and that the good work with my team has paid off.”
In her fifth and final round, Laisne started well with three birdies and a bogey on the top nine before making one birdie and two bogeys on her back nine.
But the former PING Junior Solheim Cup player expected a nervous finish and was still happy to get the job done.
She continued: “It was pretty good in the beginning. At 16 and 17 I made two bogeys, so it was a bit off, but nerves happen, and that’s okay. ”
Laisne achieved success on the LET Access series in 2020, while still being an amateur who achieved two victories within a month.
Winning the Lavaux Ladies Open and Santander Golf Tour Lauro took the French golfer to no. 13 on the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
The two-time LETAS winner made five LET appearances last season with her best result of T6 at the Estrella Damm Ladies Open and Laisne hopes to have a long career on the LET in the future as well.
She added: “I did not know what to expect on the LET. The girls are very kind, and the staff is very kind. I look forward to playing on the LET for many years to come. ”
As one of the youngest stars to join the tour, here are some quick fire questions with the LET rookie.
I love a steak with some vegetables. Eggplant with a medium rare steak is perfect!
The last movie I saw was in the US and it’s called The Tourist. It’s with Angelina Jolie and Jonny Depp and the ending is quite funny, I would recommend it.
Do you watch Netflix?
I watched The Crown, but the episodes take too long, so I stopped.
Dreaming of four-ball?
Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy.
Le Golf national because I like to practice there. The Ryder Cup was there in 2018 and Tiger Woods walked there, so it’s quite amazing.
On my ball is always Titleist 1 and if it’s ProV it’s Titleist 2 but always goes with Titleist 1 so I struggle because there is only one sleeve in a box so it’s always hard for me but I get that right. I sometimes exchange it at pro stores.
Right now I would be singing a Mamma Mia song. I like the movie. Maybe honey, honey – I love that song!
