With her unbeaten streak on the line, outstanding female MMA prospect, Mackenzie Dern will step back into the cage this October.
When Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) unpacks the cage this October, one of the sport’s fastest rising female figures will once again emerge under the bright lights in Phoenix.
First reported by MMA Junkie, undefeated Mackenzie Dern (3-0-0) will take on “MissDemeanor” Mandy Polk (3-3-0). For the first time in her MMA career, Dern will move up in the weight class to the 125-pound, flyweight division.
LFA 24 will be Dern’s second match under the promotion’s banner.
Dern last defeated Katherine Roy at LFA 6 in March. A world champion in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Dern has made great strides in her MMA repertoire. Dern also scored a first-round submission victory over Ultimate Fighter 26 contestant Montana Stewart. Coincidentally, Stewart and the rest of the TUF 26 cast compete for the UFC‘s first female flyweight champion.
In preparation for her upcoming LFA match, Dern is scheduled to take part in Finland this weekend. Dern will defend her ADCC title after winning a gold medal at the 2015 ADCC World Championships.
While Dern defends at ADCC, her opponent will be knee-deep in combat preparation as she looks set for a loss last December.
After starting her professional MMA career with two consecutive losses, it looked like Polk had found her foot in the fighting game. Polk put together an impressive winning streak of three fights, including a first-round win over Briannah Conaster. Polk’s winning streak suddenly came to a halt at RFA 46.
In her first appearance for Resurrection Fighting Alliance, Polk faced off against Katy Collins. Collins sent Polk by TKO with less than 30 seconds left in round two. A purple belt in BJJ, and IFBB professional fitness competitor Polk will try to derail Dern’s hype train when they walk into the cage at the Comerica Theater in Phoenix, Arizona on October 13.
