MANILA, Philippines – Magnolia took control early on Wednesday night and played the entire game against Columbian, claiming a 109-83 victory that gave the Hotshots their first PBA Philippine Cup winning streak at Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.

It was the sixth defeat in 10 games for the Dyip, who do not have their play-offs in their hands, as they had to win their last qualifier – which would be against TNT KaTropa next Friday – and hope that some of the other teams lose.
The Magnolia defense kept the Dyip at just 12 first-quarter points and did not need Paul Lee to dominate the score for a change to achieve the authoritative victory.
Magnolia will have all the confidence it needs when it settles with Barangay Ginebra on Sunday.
