A major hint has been provided regarding the future of Manchester City midfielder, Bernardo Silva.
Bernardo Silva, 27, has been on Man City’s books since 2017 when he joined from AS Monaco.
Since then, Silva has played a key role in Manchester City dominating the English game, especially in 2018/19 when the Portuguese was arguably in the best form of his career as City notched a century of points in the Premier League.
However, even though Man City have continued to be the pinnacle of English football, Silva did look to be eyeing an exit this past summer.
Speaking back in the summer of 2021, Pep Guardiola confirmed that Silva was one of several players looking to leave the club:
“He’s our player,” Guardiola said. “Not just Bernardo, there are two, three or four players that want to leave but they are our players under contract and when they bring some offer and their agents come here and they want to leave we are open to discuss absolutely everything but it depends on them. ”
Now, however, The Times are reporting on Wednesday that Manchester City are confident that Bernardo Silva, whose current deal runs till 2025, will sign a contract extension with the club after holding positive talks with his representatives.
It is added that sources close to the City squad say that several players feel Manchester City is the best place in the world to play possession-based football and that is understood to have been an important factor in convincing the Portugal international to stay.

Bernardo Silva staying put
So, though it appeared as though Silva was keen to depart over the summer, it seems clear that the midfielder is staying put now, as he would not be talking about a new deal if he actually wanted to leave.
Silva has so far scored seven and assisted one in 22 league games for City this season, with the Sky Blues once again on course to pick up another Premier League title.
The real test for Silva and City, though, will come later in the campaign when the latter stages of the Champions League are played out.
