Mozambique: Why it is so difficult to defeat in Mozambique
They call themselves Al-Shabab, in Arabic, “young” or “boys”. This is misleading because they are not even the same group of insurgents linked to Al Qaeda in Somalia with that name. Instead, the group pledged allegiance to its IS counterpart in 2019, based in Iraq and Syria. They have taken the title of the Central African Province of the Islamic State (ISCAP), which is also misleading, as Mozambique is not part of Central Africa.
