This is the sixth time that Nole has finished group play unbeaten, the first time since 2018.
The five-time former title list broke twice in the first set and three times in the second.
“My tennis is getting better and better in every game,” Novak said. “I could not be happier before possibly the two most important matches in the tournament.”
Match statistics: ace (5-1), double errors (0-2), winners (21-9), unforced errors (16-24), total points won (56-33).
Novak will face No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev in Saturday’s semi-final (21:00 CET).
The Serbian ace is 7-3 against the German, who finished runner-up in the Red Group.
In view of the clash, Djokovic added: “It’s a very fast track, he’s a good server, a lot of power. I have to be motivated, solid, stable and come back very well. We had some tough games this year.”
The second seeded Daniil Medvedev will face the Green Group’s runner-up, Casper Ruud, in this afternoon’s semi-final.
