ROCKET SPORT MEDIA | LAVAL, QC. – On Saturday, the Canadiens and Oilers were seen nationally on CBC as part of Hockey Day in Canada. Viewers across the country have the Canadiens are humiliated 7-2 in front of an empty building.

“We were 3-0 behind, but I fully believe that our whole team had that faith that we can come back in that game. Even in the second too. I mean, by the end of the third, it’s hard to play, and it’s frustrating. We are all quite ashamed of the result, “he said. Jake Evans said.

The Habs should consider themselves lucky that no fans were allowed in the Bell Center, because if any fan spent money on watching the home team, they would be furious. It’s a surprise that the fake crowd noise was not set to captivate.

On Sunday, Nick Suzuki opened the scoring in the second minute of the game, before the Canadiens collapsed again. Columbus responded in the first period with four goals and won 6-3. Dominique Ducharme replaced the opening goalkeeper for the fourth consecutive game. This is the first time since 1985 that the Canadiens have conceded 26 or more goals in a series of four games.

“Losing is not easy,” Brendan Gallagher said. “It’s frustrating. You want to be able to leave the track and feel good about yourself, and when you lose, you look for solutions and it’s not there. We will continue to work, we will continue to try to find those solutions. ”

The Canadiens enter the All Star break with a losing streak of six games thereafter suffered a 6-3 defeat to Columbus Sunday night. New Jersey visits the Bell Center on February 8th.

Price works to return

Carey Price Sunday meets for the first time since the Stanley Cup final with the media A lot has happened since then for the goalkeeper and the whole team. “I’m doing well. I know it was a frustrating time for everyone, and it was one for me too. It’s been a long year,” Price said.

On October 7, Price voluntarily joined the NHL / NHLPA Player Assistance Program. “It was very difficult. I was in a position where I definitely had to reach out and it was definitely a difficult time. It was one that had to be made, and in the end it was successful. I am very grateful for the help I received. ”

Price was on the ice in Brossard for 15 minutes in full gear earlier Sunday for the second consecutive day. His goal is to return this season, and he will know over the next few weeks whether he will succeed. Price has already had a few setbacks, but he is ready to put in all the work needed to return.

“It is for one large part of my identity. “Being a goalie for the Montreal Canadiens has been my life for more than a decade,” Price replied when asked about his commitment to return. “I just want to come back and keep playing. Being able to put on that jersey again is what keeps me motivated at this stage. ”

Ever since he renounced the no-move clause for the expansion concept, there has been speculation about Price’s future with the organization. Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton should know Price’s intentions to plan the team’s future accordingly.

“My family and I are very happy here. We are established. This is our house. There’s a reason I signed the contract like I did here with a no-move clause. It had to be here. So, at the moment, I have no plans to move anywhere, ”Price said.

Gallagher adds his voice

Canada’s Substitute Captain Brendan Gallagher talked about Carey Price after the game Sunday night.

“Price, you know, he’s a fighter,” Gallagher said. “You can not say that about too many goalkeepers in the league, but he is a tough bug. I know he wants to come back and play, that goal has not changed for him. Clearly there is more to it than just wanting to be back in the series, but he has not given up this season, I know that. He wants to be a part of it. They are going to be smart about it, but he works hard to naturally shake their hands. “If he makes the full recovery and he is healthy, there is no reason not to play.”

“I admire so much about him,” Gallagher added. “I feel happy to have to spend 10 years with, in my mind, the best goalkeeper in the league for that decade. He was incredible and you are always amazed at what he does, and with his rehabilitation I am sure it will be the same. ”

No response

During Saturday’s game, there was evidence that the roster gave up on the season and on each other. With less than five minutes left in the second period, Zack Kassian a hard stop delivered Samuel Montembeault as the goalkeeper was behind his own net to play the shot. Montembeault’s mask flew off the impact.

Not a single Canadian player on the ice responded to the incident. It seemed like the former Hab was expecting a visit from a red jersey, but it never came. Referee Brad Meier was most upset about the hit.

Jeff Petry, with an ‘A’ on his jersey, graciously skated next to Kassian. “Looking back on it, I did not see the real (hit), I just saw [Montembeault] go down. “

“For me, this is not a place to go and have to fight against such a guy. But if you look back and play it in my head again, you should at least get in his face and have a word with him. “I think it’s something that is on me and also on the other guys on the ice, to stand up for our teammates,” Petry added.

“I want to see five red jerseys go in the corner. I will never ask one person to fight, but I want to see five reds in the corner, “Ducharme replied when asked about the incident.

The reaction came in the third period when Michael Pezzetta jumped on Kassian for a fight. Pezzetta clearly lost the fight, but credit to the forward for not backing down from any opponent.

“Of course it was not an easy thing to do what he did, but he did it, and everyone in the locker room sees it and appreciates it,” Tyler Toffoli said about Pezzetta’s reaction.

Grid movement

The injury bug is still hitting the Canadiens, as the organization announced it before Saturday’s game David Savard will miss eight weeks with a right ankle injury. The ankle was injured when he stopped a shot on Jan. 12 in Boston.

Gallagher en Paul Byron Sunday returned to action. It was Byron’s season debut after undergoing hip surgery during the summer. “There were moments that I did not feel in good shape. The match was fast for me. I was behind the play, but it will come back in time. I didn’t get much training time with the team. “

Joel Armia and Cole Caufield returned to Montreal on Saturday after completing their quarantine in Wisconsin.

With the taxi group disbanding at the end of Sunday’s game, the Canadiens assigned Lukas Vejdemo and Sami Niku to the Rocket. Niku will report to Laval after the All Star break.

Rocket Split Series

The Rocket was in Texas for the first time in franchise history to confront the Stars. On Friday, Tory Dello opened the scoring with his first career AHL goal, before things collapsed for Laval. The Stars scored six unanswered goals in the last 40 minutes, going through to a 6-1 victory.

“They had two quick goals on the power play that cut our legs a bit, they went off skating, but they made their own luck. They had the shooter on their side tonight, and that’s where it went south for us. I thought we had a good start, but could not sustain it. ” Jean Francois Houle said.

Joel Teasdale made his return after standing on the sidelines with a knee injury he sustained in April. “I generally felt very well. At first I struggled to move my feet, but it did not take me long to start doing so. “I went into the corners, I played just in front of the net, that’s where I get my success,” the forward evaluated.

On Saturday, two power play goals for Laval helped a 3-2 victory about the stars. “I think we played a physical match tonight. Our players played hard, they were committed to getting a win on the road. Guindon in net made some key savings. Our special teams were good, ”said Houle.

Louis-Philip Guindon made 26 savings to earn his first career AHL victory. “I feel it’s a big family, and they welcomed me in the middle of the year as their brother, and to me it just means a lot that they work hard in front of me, they have my trust,” the goalkeeper said.

The Rocket will continue with two games in Utica on Wednesday and Friday, before leaving for Belleville on Saturday.

Lions Sweep Weekend

The Lions finished their seven games with a few games over the weekend. On Saturday, the game was tied 2-2 after 40 minutes, before Trois-Rivieres scored four times in the third period to beat Adirondack 6-3.

“It took us a while to get started, but in the third period we really played our best hockey. There were also some line changes that created energy. We have to play consistently like the third, ” Eric Belanger said.

On Sunday, the Lions blew a 2-0 lead in Maine when the Mariners forced extra time. A winner was not named in overtime, and in shooting, Cedric Desruisseaux was the only scorer and gave Trois-Rivieres the 3-2 victory.

” Heart broken [Berube] played a good game, but we dominated the game. We deserved to win it. Their goalkeeper made the difference. He kept his team in the game. We had so many chances in the second period, especially on the power play. Yes, they were able to tie the score at the end of the game, but I loved the way we played. Our foresight was good, as were our defensive play, penalty goal and power play. We played a full game and everyone contributed, “said Belanger.

Marc-Andre Bergeron completed the franchise’s first trade Saturday by swapping Anthony DeLuca to Kansas City for future consideration. In 10 games with the Lions, Deluca scored once and added six assistants.

Trois-Rivieres returns to the Colisee Videotron this week for three games against Maine on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
