Project 17: Solving the problem of food waste in Singapore

Singapore imports 90% of its food and 744,000 tonnes of it was wasted in 2019.

Seventeen-year-old Shan wants to report on possible solutions to the problem. Looking at the problem, he says he opened them up to a “food waste scale,” but he knew that tackling waste can help the community, as well as save food.

This video is part of Project 17, produced in collaboration with Open World in the BBC World Service section, which examines the progress made by 17-year-olds around the world in the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
