A final showdown with Premier League rivals Manchester City awaits on May 29th in Istanbul, with Thomas Tuchel having bested the Spaniard last month in the FA Cup semi-final, and will have the chance to do so again this weekend in the league, when the two ‘warm-ups’ for the biggest prize in European football.

There’s been an inevitable outpouring of reaction to the victory with club legend Didier Drogba certainly delighted to see his former club back in the big time – the striker lifted the European cup back in 2012 with victory of Bayern Munich.

The man of the match for Chelsea vs Real Madrid was unquestionably N’Golo Kante who was pivotal in creating the second goal for Mason Mount. Interestingly, there was reported interest in the World Cup winner last summer according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, but Chelsea were insistent that he continues and that decision has paid dividends this season.
N’Golo Kanté is not just the man of the match, again. He’s a special guy and special player. Chelsea board has ‘protected’ him last summer: two clubs were set to open talks to sign Kanté offering more than € 50m, Chelsea answer has always been ‘NO’. 🔵🚫 #CFC #UCL
