In October 2021, we conducted user research to understand how people acquire knowledge, specifically when they want to learn about something new. Why did we do that? We Recommended feature is all about finding shortcuts to wisdom, so we wanted to hear what people are doing today. We asked 4 simple questions – where do you go first, what makes you trust sources of knowledge, what would you like to know more about next year and what keeps you from learning something new? We’ve found some great insights like video as a popular method of learning, but reading books are still at the top of the list despite our easy access to short form information. We confirmed that the reputation of the supplier was a key factor (more than popularity), but also checking various sources was something that people did regularly. You can find more insights from the results and our conclusions here.
