Germany in their first draw in Group F of the Davis Cup by Rakuten Finals, who won 2-1 over Serbia on Saturday night.
In the first singles match of the day, Dominik Koepfer beat Filip Krajinovic 7-6, 6-4.
Novak Djokovic defeated Jan-Lennard Struff in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, in his 50th Davis Cup match, world number 1, to level the Davis Cup match in Innsbruck, Austria.
Novak drove within 72 minutes of victory and broke twice in the first set and once in the second.
Match statistics: ace (9-2), double errors (0-1), winners (15-7), unforced errors (8-10), total points won (64-46).
In the deciding doubles rubber, Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz defeated Novak and Nikola Cacic 7-6 (5), 3-6, 7-6 (5) in two hours and 16 minutes for a 2-1 victory for Germany to clinch.
The 2010 champions advance to the quarterfinals as one of the top two second-placed teams along with the six group winners.
