The respect factor took a bit of a turn earlier this week as a story on boxing scene came out and quoted the normally soft spoken Kilic taking a dig at Nelson’s age by stating. “They always say age is just a number; it’s not just a number, especially in sports, ”he said. “You get older and you’ve got to accept that. And when you’re 31 years old, most people retire when they’re 36, so he’s only going to have five years and that puts a lot of pressure on him. It’s also in the head. You know you’re getting older. You just know. And it stays in the back of your head. ”
On Thursday morning, I asked Nelson if he had read the story about his opponents comments and he responded by stating “all of that trash he is saying is an assessment for normal people, for the average fighter, for the average person …. he’s going to find out that I’m far from average in fact I’m like an Extraterrestrial. Nelson would finish the conversation with BG by stating, “we were supposed to fight 11 days before Christmas and guess what ?? Christmas is not over for me nor for the fans. I plan on delivering plenty of 10oz gloves to the face of Mr. Kilic. ”
