Texans schedule 2021: dates and times of 17 games, schedule strength, final record announcement
To say that Texans are in the midst of reconstruction work will not do the organization justice. In many ways, they are in complete limbo right now. The Texans had four-star players on their team at Deshaun Watson, DeAndre Hopkins, JJ Watt and Jadeveon Clowney. Now, Watson is left alone, but he is facing problems off the field, and his future with the team is in the air.
That’s why it’s hard to say for sure how Texans will fare in the next program. Either way, it’s going to be tough, but it’s the same thing that Watson is leading. Tough led by Tyrod Taylor and Davis Mills? That’s another one.
Moreover, due to the bad decisions of the previous regime, the group did not have a large draft capital to renew its list. Instead, they were able to sign free mid-level agents to build depth and competition for starting positions on both sides of the ball. Could that work for Texans? Maybe, but they’re still a long way from winning the playoff game against the Buffalo Bills recently in the back of 2020.
Here’s a full breakdown of Texans ’2021 program, including dates, start times, and analysis.
Texans program 2021
The Texans open the season at home against the Jaguars on Sunday, Sept. 12, at 1 p.m., on ET CBS.
The rest of the Texans ’schedule will be announced as part of the NFL’s calendar release on Wednesday, May 12, at 8 p.m., ET. These are the teams that will play in the 2021 NFL season.
|Carolina Panthers||Arizona Cardinals|
|Indianapolis Colts||Buffalo Bills|
|Jacksonville Jaguars||Cleveland Browns|
|Los Angeles Chargers||Indianapolis Colts|
|Los Angeles Rams||Jacksonville Jaguars|
|New England Patriots||Miami Dolphins|
|New York Jets||San Francisco 49|
|Seattle Seahawks||Tennessee Titans|
The Texans had one of the wildest starts of any team in the 2020 season. Five of the first seven opponents to face them reached the playoffs in the 20th, including the Chiefs, Ravens, Steelers, Titans and Packers. Thus, it is not surprising that he stumbled with a 1-6 start with the only victory over the Jaguar shelves.
Houston set the third-worst record in the NFL, but Bill O’Brien traded first-round picks for 2020 to the Dolphins, so the Texans didn’t have a 3rd overall pick to help meet some of their needs.
There’s no good news on the 21st about the Texans ’calendar. They have eight games against teams that made it to the playoffs last year and got 10 wins against a team from the Dolphins. Their schedule will be tough on how they care, especially for some of the teams they face, namely the Jets and 49ers, which need to be improved this year.
The strength of the Texans schedule
Based on last year’s records, the Texans have the 15th most difficult schedule in the NFL (.504). But as mentioned above, it can be even harder when it comes to looking ahead.
The Jets and 49ers think they are better with new players in the quarter, and the rivalry against the Patriots could also be tough. The Texans won New England last season, so Bill Belichick will come out looking for revenge. His team also has a new first-quarter quarter, so the Texans can also fight at home with that game.
No one would be surprised to see Texans fight out the door again, especially when the team is short of resources available during the 2021 season and the team was unable to renew its roster. And if Watson can’t play between problems off the field, then the Texans can hit the bottom.
Hardest tests: There are tough tests for Texans this season. The meetings with the Bills, Colts and Browns should be difficult, as these three teams from last year’s playoffs have only improved their selections in various areas throughout the season. As the Texans continue to retreat, they will face problems against these teams, especially in hostile environments in Buffalo and Cleveland.
Things are better at home. However, dealing with well-rounded rams will not be easy for a poor defense. The same can be said about the Seahawks directed by Russell Wilson. As I said, patriots can also be worrisome for them. The Texans were ranked last in the NFL last season, and the Patriots believe they are the dominant team on the ground along with two TEs, Damien Harris, Rhamondre Stevenson and Sony Michel.
Longest breaks: The truth is, there aren’t many interruptions in the Texans ’program. Organizing the Jaguars, Jets, and Panthers will probably be the three easiest games on this year’s lineup. The Jaguars and Jets are confident in a new quarterback who is talented but will fit into the NFL. Also, both teams don’t have a very good defense, so the Texans have at least one chance.
Meanwhile, the Panthers have a better overall team, but Sam Darnold has not been a strong rookie in QB to start his career. If he tries to adapt to the Panther system, this could lead to Texans stealing a game. But still, these games are not gimmes.
Bottom line: There’s not much to like about Texan programming. It’s not the toughest in the NFL, but the Texans are one of the worst teams in the league. This will make it difficult for them to compete with most teams, even less so when half of their calendar matches are against teams that reached the playoffs last year.
Maybe David Culley will find a way to get the most out of this Texan crew. Maybe working with Nick Caserio’s free agency will affect him. However, at the end of the day, the Texans aren’t a good team right now, so you won’t find a lot of winning games in their schedule.
