The USTA Pro Circuit returns with a complete list of more than 100 events in 2022 and has unveiled a new Sportsmanship Award for former US Fed Cup player and longtime USTA Pro Circuit contestant Julie Ditty.
The Julie Ditty sportsmanship award will be awarded annually to one male and one female player who best portrays the spirit of sportsmanship as the Usta Pro Circuit Tournament directors voted on. The award was named after Julie Ditty Qualls, former pro and beloved coach, who died in the age of 42 in 2021 after a long struggle with breast cancer. Ditty Qualls owns a record of 38 Usta Pro Circuit titles.
The USTA Pro Circuit, created in 1979 to provide additional competitive opportunities on American soil for players striving to earn the professional rankings needed to access the higher-level tournaments, has since grown into the largest Pro Circuit in the world.
“The Usta Pro Circuit serves as America’s leading job for men and women trying to compete at the highest levels of professional tennis,” said Idelle Pierre-Louis, senior manager of the Pro Circuit’s Usta’s. “Countless top professionals have developed their games on the Usta Pro Circuit and year after year, communities across the country have the opportunity to compete these exciting players in a variety of intimate, fan-friendly places.”
